| "The Reluctant Sparrow" is a children's story about a homebody sparrow who doesn't migrate south with his friends. I wrote the original text, illustrated, and designed the book. Illustrations are pen, ink, and watercolor. |

The Brightmoor Farmway Cookbook was a collaborative project that showcased the Brightmoor community's work to revitalize their Detroit neighborhood. The book features recipes and stories from each neighborhood gardener. My role was to help design the layout and typography for the book, and to provide some of the illustrations. |

| "Cold Toast and Jam at Eight" | watercolor and ink on watercolor paper. This is an original concept painting for a children's story about an author, his inspirations, and a fantastical bicycle ride to work. |

| Book design for Jorge Luis Borges' short story "The Book of Sand" | original pen and ink illustrations, accordion fold. The concept behind this book design is based on Borges' story-line. His character comes across a magical book that is never ending or beginning, a book that eventually drives him to insanity. The illustrations are all created from a continuous line that becomes more wild and uncontrolled as the narrator's mind becomes unhinged. Because of the accordion fold, the book can be unfolded and the continuous line experienced in its entirety. |
